We’ve just published our 2014 annual report which showcases some of our impacts last year. Special thanks to our board member Marion O’Leary for helping finalize the report.
2014 for was a big year for Mongabay! Some key highlights:
- 2014 was Mongabay’s 15th year.
- Jane Goodall joined the Mongabay board.
- Mongabay’s website has now logged more than 200 million lifetime visitors.
- In October 2014, Mongabay published its 10,000th news article in English.
- Mongabay’s full-time U.S. staff doubled to four people.
- Mongabay continues to support environmental journalism through grants and special programs.
- Mongabay founder Rhett A. Butler won the prestigious Parker-Gentry Award from The Field Museum.
- Through the Mongabay Reporting Network, Mongabay awarded ten special reporting initiative prizes totaling more than $150,000 to environmental journalists.
- The Mongabay-Indonesia website boasted 1.3 million visitors in 2014, a 128% increase over 2013.
- Mongabay’s Tropical Conservation Science (TCS) e-journal published 50 articles.
