Help us report on Amazon fires

As you’ve probably seen, there’s a disaster unfolding in the Amazon: deforestation is surging and fires are burning through forests. Mongabay has been doing extensive reporting on the issue and our stories are garnering a lot of attention, with more than 150 media mentions in the past 72 hours alone, including numerous interviews of our CEO on outlets ranging from the BBC to CBC, KPFK-Los Angeles, France 24, and others. We know officials in Brazil are reading our stories as well.

In response to the problem, we’re urgently working to scale up our reporting capacity in Brazil. We recently hired a Brazilian editor, who can commission stories from local journalists in Amazon states to provide a true, on-the-ground picture of what’s happening. We just need to find more resources to fund these stories. Is there any chance you could help?
