Ochieng’ is a seasoned science journalist based in Nairobi with over 25 years of professional experience. Previously, he served as the Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Coordinator and Editor for the UK-based Science and Development Network (SciDev.Net), a role he held for 12 and a half years. He was also a member of the Executive Board of the World Federation of Science Journalists (WFSJ) from 2008 to 2023.

Ochieng’s footprints can be found in various media outlets, including National Geographic, Nature Medicine, University World News, The New Agriculturalist (UK), The Guardian (UK), The Standard Media Group (Kenya), Health Policy Watch, and the British Medical Journal.

He was the winner of the 2008 Reuters-IUCN Media Awards for Excellence in Environmental Reporting for the English-speaking regions of Africa and the Middle East.

Ochieng’ holds a Master of Arts degree in Communication and Media Studies, with a specialization in Development Communication, from the University of Nairobi.
