A major goal of our Special Reporting Projects (SRP) program is to reach as many readers as possible, so we have tried to make it easy to take our content and republish it.

 

CREATIVE COMMONS LICENSE

Our articles first published on Mongabay from the SRI and GFRN programs are published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License. This means that anyone can copy and distribute the work and use it commercially. The key condition is that you must attribute the work to the original author and to Mongabay.org (preferably in the exact way on the original article, mentioning the SRI or GFRN program affiliation), including a link and cannot make any material changes to the content without written permission.

Please note that other articles published elsewhere under our SRI program are not subject to this license. This license only applies to SRI or GFRN articles first published on Mongabay. Articles available for republishing will be clearly marked, but if you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

COMMERCIAL USE

We encourage all types of publications to take our content and reuse it. It is fine for you to make a profit from our features through advertising or subscriptions; we are happy to help support organizations who are sharing these stories. You can’t, however, sell this material for profit.

IMAGES

Pay attention to photo permissions – you are responsible for ensuring you have legitimate permission for each image you use. If a photo in the original piece is credited as belonging to either Mongabay or the author of the piece you are republishing, you have permission to use the photo, unchanged, with the same caption/credit as used in the original piece. If an image is copyright of another photographer or illustrator and you would like to reproduce it, contact us. Some sources don’t allow their images to be republished without permission.
