Lucía Torres is the Video Managing Editor at Mongabay, where she leads a global team of producers and freelancers to deliver impactful visual stories from the frontlines of nature. With a background in biology and a master’s in science journalism, she combines scientific expertise with narrative craft to bring visibility to ecosystems and communities often overlooked in mainstream coverage.
In addition to her editorial work, Torres has delivered workshops and public talks on video and science journalism, sharing insights on innovative and solutions-oriented approaches to storytelling. She was part of the Poynter Institute Leadership Academy for Women in Media cohort in 2024 and was awarded the Solutions Journalism Network Fellowship in 2025, recognizing her leadership in advancing response-driven environmental reporting.
Her previous experience includes roles as writer, scriptwriter, and producer at Agencia SINC, Cadena SER, and RTVE. Originally from Bilbao, Spain, she has lived and worked internationally and is currently based in Madrid.
