Alexandre de Santi
About
Santi’s career began in 1999 as a reporter for radio, web and newspapers. In 2011, he founded Fronteira, an editorial studio, where he wrote and edited in-depth and investigative pieces on science, environment and crime — but also music, football and food — for major Brazilian outlets. Santi also authored and co-authored three books via Fronteira. In 2018, he joined The Intercept Brazil as deputy editor, where he played a key role in investigations, including the Vaza Jato, which had a profound impact on Brazil. At TIB, he also led the site’s environmental coverage and partnerships with the U.S. newsroom, efforts that led to awards and a successful reader-funded model. He also collaborated as an editor for Impedimento, a renowned Latin American football site, and was one of the founding associates of Porto Alegre’s local news nonprofit Matinal. Santi joined Mongabay in 2022 as English editor for Brazil, covering the Amazon, and moved to managing editor for Brazil in 2025.
