‘Without translation we would inhabit parishes bordering on silence’ George Steiner

Thanks to the Internet, Silvia “works” off her fondness for translation and shares it with the world. Although she doesn’t make a living with translation, she enjoys translating and believes it provides positive experiences that benefit her now and in the future. Silvia is a philologist, with a specialty in English, and has a blog (tequierotraducir.blogspot.com) where she shows the quality of her “work” and the vocation in the profession of translation. Silvia conceives translation as her professional ambition.
While earning her degree in English Philology by the University of Murcia (Spain), she enjoyed the pleasure of reading and studying some of the most representative works of the English and American literature as well as acquiring a wide knowledge of the English language. In September 2013, willing to gain some relevant work experience and specialize in a field she loves, Silvia contacted Mongabay to offer her help as a translator from English to Spanish.
She is also a passionate about the new technologies and 2.0 environments, which have allowed her to stay on top of lifelong learning and get familiar with subtitling and translating software as her work tools.

“Sin la traducción habitaríamos provincias lindantes con el silencio” George Steiner

Gracias a Internet, Silvia “trabaja” de su afición por la traducción y la comparte con el mundo. Aunque no se gana la vida con la traducción, le gusta traducir y cree que puede ser una experiencia positiva para su futuro. ¿Quién sabe? Ella es filóloga, especialidad inglesa, y tiene un blog (tequierotraducir.blogspot.com) donde muestra la calidad de su “trabajo” y la vocación sentida por la profesión de traductor. Concibe la traducción como su ambición profesional.
Durante su licenciatura en Filología Inglesa por la Universidad de Murcia (España), ha tenido el placer de leer y estudiar algunas de las obras más representativas de la literatura inglesa y americana, así como de adquirir un amplio conocimiento del inglés. En Septiembre de 2013, deseosa de conseguir experiencia profesional y de especializarse en un ámbito que le encanta, contactó con Mongabay para ofrecer su ayuda como traductora inglés-español.
También le apasionan las nuevas tecnologías y los entornos 2.0, con los que ha podido seguir en la brecha del aprendizaje continuo y empezar a familiarizarse con el software de traducción y subtitulado como herramientas de trabajo.
