Priscilla Misiekaba-Kia

Priscilla is a highly skilled freelance journalist based in Suriname with a deep passion for writing. As a wife, mother, and dedicated student pursuing a master’s degree in history, she brings a unique perspective and a strong work ethic to all of her endeavors.

With nearly six years of experience in the field of journalism, Priscilla has covered a wide range of topics and areas of interest. She began her career in 2017 with Suriname’s oldest newspaper, Dagblad De West, and has since worked as a freelance journalist for two online news sites, primarily reporting on the meetings of the National Assembly in Suriname. In addition, Priscilla has lent her talents as a freelancer to an NGO, writing articles on recycling and other important social issues.

In recognition of her outstanding work, Priscilla was selected to participate in Climate Tracker’s Caribbean Citizen Journalism Fellowship in 2022. There, she produced her first international article, demonstrating her ability to write compelling, informative, and engaging stories on a global scale.

Beyond her work as a journalist, Priscilla enjoys writing reports on a variety of topics and is highly skilled in transcribing audio files. In her free time, she likes to listen to music, watch movies, and spend quality time with her family.
