Wildlife Desk

Reverence for biodiversity is at the heart of Mongabay’s origin story and remains central to our mission as an organization. While nearly everyone working with Mongabay contributes to reporting on wildlife, the Wildlife Desk specializes in topics that span boundaries, such as wildlife ecology and animal behavior, particularly in the context of a changing climate, the global wildlife trade, zoonotic diseases, invasive species and habitat connectivity. The Desk also collaborates with Mongabay’s regional News Bureaus to produce local, on-the-ground journalism on topics ranging from from the status of endangered, charismatic and underappreciated species to community-based conservation practices and the role of biodiversity in people’s everyday lives.
